Peer Review Process

Peer Review Policy

1. General Policy

Jurnal Ekonomika: Manajemen, Akuntansi and Islamic Banking applies a peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and scholarly integrity of manuscripts considered for publication. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening before a decision is made on whether they should proceed to peer review.

2. Initial Manuscript Screening

The editor conducts an initial assessment of each manuscript to determine its suitability for the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, completeness, originality, and adherence to publication ethics standards. Manuscripts that fall outside the journal's scope or fail to meet its basic requirements may be rejected at this stage without external peer review.

3. Peer Review Process

Every manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening is reviewed by at least two reviewers with relevant expertise in the manuscript's subject area. Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, research experience, and the relevance of their expertise to the manuscript's topic.

Jurnal Ekonomika: Management, Accounting and Islamic Banking applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the authors' identities are concealed from the reviewers and the reviewers' identities are concealed from the authors throughout the review process.

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on originality, scholarly contribution, relevance to the journal's focus and scope, appropriateness of research methods, quality of analysis and discussion, relevance of references, and clarity of presentation. The review reports serve as the basis for the editor's editorial decision.

4. Editorial Decisions

Based on reviewers' reports and editorial assessment, the editor may make one of the following decisions:

  1. Accept: the manuscript is accepted without substantive changes.

  2. Minor Revision: the author is asked to make limited revisions.

  3. Major Revision: the author is asked to make substantial revisions, and the manuscript may undergo further review.

  4. Reject: the manuscript does not meet the journal's standards or requirements for publication.

The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests with the editor, taking reviewers' comments and the journal's policies into consideration. Acceptance is not determined solely by the recommendation of a single reviewer.

5. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to assess manuscripts objectively, professionally, promptly, and on scholarly grounds. They must maintain confidentiality, refrain from using information obtained during the review process for personal advantage, and disclose any potential conflicts of interest to the editor.

Reviewers should provide clear, constructive comments that help authors improve their manuscripts. If a reviewer lacks the relevant expertise or cannot complete the review within the agreed timeframe, the reviewer should promptly inform the editor.

6. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are expected to respond professionally to reviewers' comments and revise their manuscripts accordingly. Authors should provide a point-by-point response to the comments and explain the scholarly reasons for any suggestions they do not adopt.

Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers for further assessment when necessary. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy of their data, the validity of their findings, the originality of their work, and compliance with publication ethics.

7. Confidentiality and Review Ethics

All stages of the peer review process are confidential. Manuscripts and review-related communications must not be disclosed or used for other purposes without appropriate authorization. The editor is responsible for safeguarding the independence of the review process and addressing suspected ethical misconduct in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

8. Review Timeline

The journal aims to conduct peer review efficiently without compromising the quality of scholarly evaluation. Review times may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the extent of revisions required. Authors will be informed of editorial decisions through the journal's online journal management system.

9. Final Statement

Jurnal Ekonomika: Manajemen, Accounting and Islamic Banking is committed to maintaining a fair, transparent, independent, and responsible peer review process to safeguard the quality and integrity of scholarly publication.
