Conflict of Interest

Jurnal Ekonomika: Management, Accounting and Islamic Banking is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, independence, and integrity throughout the scholarly publishing process. Conflicts of interest must be disclosed transparently to ensure that peer review and editorial decision-making are conducted fairly and impartially.

A conflict of interest arises when financial interests, personal relationships, professional relationships, institutional interests, or other considerations may influence, or may reasonably be perceived to influence, an individual's objectivity in conducting research, reviewing a manuscript, or making editorial decisions.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

All authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence, or be perceived to influence, the research findings, data interpretation, or conclusions presented in their manuscripts.

Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to, employment relationships, consultancy arrangements, share ownership, research funding, honoraria, personal or professional relationships, and affiliations with organizations that have an interest in the research outcomes.

Authors must also disclose all sources of financial support for their research. If no conflicts of interest exist, the authors should explicitly state that there are no conflicts of interest to disclose.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors must maintain independence and objectivity when evaluating manuscripts. Editorial decisions should be based on scholarly quality, originality, relevance, and alignment with the journal's focus and scope, rather than personal interests, professional relationships, or financial benefits.

Editors who have a conflict of interest concerning a manuscript must disclose the conflict and refrain from participating in the related editorial decision-making process. The manuscript may be reassigned to another editor who has no relevant conflict of interest.

Editors must not use unpublished information or material from submitted manuscripts for their own research purposes without the authors' written consent.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must inform the editor if they have any conflict of interest that may affect the independence and objectivity of their evaluation. Such conflicts may arise from collaborative relationships, academic competition, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, or financial interests involving the authors or organizations associated with the manuscript.

Reviewers whose conflicts of interest could compromise their assessment must withdraw from the review process and notify the editor.

Information, data, and ideas obtained during peer review are confidential and must not be used for personal or third-party advantage.

4. Handling Conflicts of Interest

Jurnal Ekonomika will evaluate all conflict-of-interest disclosures proportionately and objectively. If an undisclosed conflict of interest is identified, or a conflict is found to potentially compromise publication integrity, the editor may request clarification, arrange alternative editorial handling, or take other appropriate actions in accordance with the journal's policies and scholarly publication ethics principles.

The disclosure of a conflict of interest does not automatically result in manuscript rejection. The primary purpose of this policy is to ensure transparency, maintain readers' trust, and protect the integrity of the publication process.

All authors, editors, and reviewers are responsible for disclosing relevant conflicts of interest honestly, completely, and promptly.
